Arts, Communication, and Media Pathway
Seneca Valley is a proud supporter of the creative and performing arts. Graduation Project is an excellent opportunity to showcase and develop these talents. Some examples of projects in this pathway might include: singing an opera, creating a sculpture, songwriting, directing a play, shooting photography, recording an album, organizing an art show, producing/directing a movie, or writing a book. Career-oriented projects are encouraged as well. Job shadowing, internships (unpaid), and comparative analysis research projects are beneficial to students considering careers related to Arts, Communication, and Media.
- Examples of projects in this pathway include:
- job shadowing a professional in one the associated careers
- creating original artwork
- comparative analysis between different career paths in this field (e.g. news producer vs. film producer)
- writing a novella
- creating an animated short film
Arts, Communication, and Media Pathway verification may include, but is not limited to the following:
- Step-by–step documentation of the creative process through photographs or journals
- Performance/video clips – running time of video must not exceed 4 minutes for your board presentation (This extension of time is for The Arts pathway only.)
- The work of art itself- the painting, sculpture, book, etc.
- Advertising from the event – playbills, posters, newspaper/television ads
- Production notes/story boards/trailer
- Job shadowing evidence (See job shadowing guidelines.)
- Comparative research evidence (See comparative research guidelines.)
Career Exploration
Careers in this pathway are varied, and they include jobs such as visual artist (e.g. sculptor, painter), journalist, sports broadcasting/podcasting, writer (e.g. novelist, poet, screenwriter), social media strategist, animator, and movie director.
