Projects could range from creating and teaching a learning unit for a preschool class, to writing a proposal to change a local law or ordinance, to volunteering with a political campaign, or to organizing an event for youth group. Job shadowing, comparative analysis research projects, certification/lifelong learning, and volunteering are beneficial to students considering careers related to Education, Public Safety, and Law.
Projects in the Education, Public Safety, and Law Pathway may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- job shadowing a professional in one of the associated careers (e.g. teacher, park ranger)
- comparative research between different career pathways in this field (e.g. fire services vs. EMT)
- creating a learning unit for a class, team, or group
- organizing a stream clean-up day
- volunteering with community service groups
- academic research into a law, policy, or mandate and its impact
- hosting a fundraising event for inclusive playground equipment
Education, Public Safety, and Law Pathway verification may include, but is not limited to the following:
- Academic research in a specific field/topic related to the pathway (notes, bibliography, summary of findings)
- Materials from a certification course
- Copy of volunteer application, clearances/background check documentation
