Grant Helps Seneca Valley Expand Access to Period Supplies
Seneca Valley recently received a $13,000 grant from the state to help ensure that students have access to free period products across all the District's K–12 schools.
The funding is helping schools provide a variety of personal care items, such as pads, tampons and other personal hygiene products, including options like period underwear and leggings, in health offices, locker rooms and the district’s No Cost to Shop store (located in the senior high school).

While younger students may need fewer supplies, the initiative ensures age-appropriate access is available at every level. A larger selection will be maintained at the middle, intermediate and senior high schools, and signage is being developed to help students discreetly locate supplies when needed.
“We are very excited to assist our students,” said Ms. Liz Williams, Ryan Gloyer Middle School Nurse and Seneca Valley Nursing Department Chair. “This is about comfort, dignity and making sure no student has to miss out on learning or activities because of lack of access.”
Students can expect signage in school bathrooms, locker rooms and other designated locations starting this fall.
